New York SNAP Deposit Dates 2026: NYC and Upstate Schedules

Researched from official sources including Benefits.gov, SSA.gov, HHS.gov, and HUD.gov. Benefit amounts and eligibility rules change regularly - always confirm details on official .gov websites before applying. Last updated: September 2026

Schedule verified against the USDA state issuance rules and OTDA guidance for New York. Reviewed October 2026.

New York SNAP deposit dates depend on one question before anything else: do you live in New York City or anywhere else in the state? The two systems are completely different. Outside the five boroughs, your date is fixed and simple. Inside NYC, the dates rotate every month on a published schedule. This page covers both, shows you how to read each system, and explains what a missing deposit usually means.

Outside NYC: The First Nine Days

In every county outside New York City, benefits arrive during the first nine days of the month, based on the last digit of your case number:

Case number ends in Benefits available on the
0 or 1 1st of the month
2 2nd of the month
3 3rd of the month
4 4th of the month
5 5th of the month
6 6th of the month
7 7th of the month
8 8th of the month
9 9th of the month

Your date holds every month, weekends and holidays included, and benefits load around midnight. Your case number is on your approval notice and in your account at myBenefits.ny.gov.

New York City: A Rotating Published Schedule

The five boroughs run differently. NYC spreads deposits over the first two weeks of the month, skipping Sundays and holidays, which works out to about thirteen possible payment days. Because the skipped days change month to month, your exact date moves, and the city publishes a six month schedule showing every date in advance.

Reading it takes two facts: your “toe digit,” which is simply the last digit of your case number, and the column marked A, which is the SNAP cycle. Find your digit, read across to the month, and that is your day. The current schedule is published by NYC HRA, and your ACCESS HRA account shows your next deposit date without any table reading.

So a case ending in 6 might be paid on the 9th one month and the 11th the next. In NYC that is the system working, not an error.

How Much Arrives

Dates are set by where you live, amounts by the federal year, which reset on October 1, 2026 with maximums through September 2027, including $1,023 a month for a family of four. The table for every household size is in our October SNAP increase guide, and if you are comparing states, every issuance window in the country is mapped in our national SNAP deposit dates guide.

Applying is split the same way as the schedules: outside NYC through myBenefits.ny.gov, inside NYC through ACCESS HRA. Our guide to applying for SNAP in New York walks through both routes, and the SNAP application guide covers the interview and documents that apply everywhere.

  • NYC residents: check ACCESS HRA first. The rotating schedule means most “late” deposits are simply scheduled later this month than last.
  • Outside NYC: check your case status at myBenefits.ny.gov for a pending recertification or periodic report, the usual cause of a skipped month.
  • Check your balance any time at 888-328-6399, the EBT customer service line, using your card number.
  • For case help in NYC, call the HRA Infoline at 718-557-1399. Elsewhere, call your county Department of Social Services, or dial 211.

What time do SNAP benefits load in New York?

Around midnight at the start of your scheduled day, both in NYC and the rest of the state. If the day is right and the balance is empty by morning, the issue is the case, not the timing.

Why does my deposit date keep changing in NYC?

Because NYC’s schedule skips Sundays and holidays, the calendar shifts each month by design. Your toe digit stays the same, the date it maps to moves. The published six month schedule or ACCESS HRA gives the exact day.

I moved from upstate to Brooklyn. Does my date change?

Yes. Your case transfers to the NYC system with its rotating schedule, and you will usually get a new case number as well. Check ACCESS HRA once the transfer completes rather than assuming your old date.

Do New York deposits shift for holidays outside NYC?

No. Outside the city, your day is fixed every month regardless of weekends and holidays. Only the NYC schedule builds holiday skips into its calendar. Federal benefits like SSI work differently again, moving earlier around holidays, as covered in our SSI payment schedule.

Is the case number the same as my EBT card number?

No. The case number identifies your benefits case and sets your deposit date. The 19 digit number on your EBT card is only for using and checking the card. The schedules run on the case number.

The Bottom Line

One state, two systems. Outside NYC: last digit of your case number, first nine days, fixed forever. Inside NYC: rotating published schedule, with ACCESS HRA as the fastest answer. Whichever side you are on, a deposit that skips a month is nearly always a recertification flag, and the 888-328-6399 line answers the balance question around the clock.
