Texas SNAP Deposit Dates 2026: Find Your Day by EDG Number

Researched from official sources including Benefits.gov, SSA.gov, HHS.gov, and HUD.gov. Benefit amounts and eligibility rules change regularly - always confirm details on official .gov websites before applying. Last updated: September 2026

Schedule verified against the USDA state issuance rules for Texas. Reviewed October 2026.

Texas SNAP deposit dates confuse people for one specific reason: the state runs two completely different schedules at once, and which one applies to you depends on when your case was first certified. If your benefits started before June 1, 2020, your money arrives in the first half of the month. If you were certified after that date, it arrives in the second half. This page gives you both tables, shows you how to find your date from your EDG number, and covers what to do when a deposit does not show up.

First, Find Your EDG Number

Texas assigns every case an Eligibility Determination Group number, or EDG number. It is on the TF0001 approval letter Texas Health and Human Services sent when your benefits were approved, and you can also find it by logging in to your account at YourTexasBenefits.com. Your deposit date comes from the digits at the end of this number, loaded onto your Lone Star Card.

Older cases are paid over the first fifteen days of the month, based on the last single digit of the EDG number:

1 3rd of the month
2 5th of the month
3 6th of the month
4 7th of the month
5 9th of the month

7 12th of the month
8 13th of the month
9 15th of the month

Certified After June 1, 2020: Days 16 Through 28

Newer cases are paid in the second half of the month, based on the last two digits of the EDG number:

EDG ends in Available on the EDG ends in Available on the
00-03 16th 54-57 16th
04-06 17th 58-60 17th

Yes, the pattern repeats and doubles back. That is how Texas built it, so trust the table over any pattern you think you see. Your date stays the same every month, and benefits load around midnight, weekends and holidays included.

Texas does not shift deposits for weekends or holidays the way Social Security does. If your day is the 20th, it is the 20th in every month of the year. The one thing that can genuinely move your money is a break in your case: if your certification lapses and you reapply, a case certified today follows the after 2020 schedule even if your original case was older.

Deposit dates tell you when. For how much, the federal amounts adjusted on October 1, 2026, and the new maximums run through September 2027, including $1,023 a month for a family of four. Our guide to the October SNAP increase has the full table for every household size, and Texans stretching a housing budget alongside food benefits should check Section 8 in Texas too. If you have not applied yet, the step by step process is in how to apply for SNAP in Texas, and approval timelines are covered in our SNAP application guide.

If Your Deposit Did Not Arrive

  • Confirm which schedule applies to you. A case recertified after a break moved to the 16th through 28th window, and that switch surprises people every month.
  • Check your balance and deposit history at YourTexasBenefits.com or on the app before calling anyone.
  • Call the Lone Star Card help desk at 800-777-7328 for card and deposit issues.
  • For case problems, call Texas HHS at 877-541-7905, or dial 211 in Texas.

A missing deposit at the end of the month often means a recertification lapsed. Texas sends renewal packets by mail and through YourTexasBenefits.com, and returning them late is the single most common reason benefits stop.

What time do SNAP benefits hit the Lone Star Card in Texas?

Deposits load around midnight at the start of your scheduled day. If your date is the 20th, the money is typically spendable first thing that morning.

Why did my Texas deposit date change?

Almost always because your case was recertified after a break. New and reopened cases follow the 16th through 28th schedule based on the last two EDG digits, regardless of when you first ever received SNAP.

Do Texas SNAP deposits come early on holidays?

No. Texas loads benefits on the same calendar day every month, including weekends and holidays. Only Social Security and SSI shift around holidays, which is covered in our SSI payment schedule.

Where do I find my EDG number?

On your TF0001 approval letter, or under your case details at YourTexasBenefits.com. If you cannot locate it, the 877-541-7905 line can look it up after verifying your identity.

Is the deposit date the same for SNAP and TANF in Texas?

No. TANF cash assistance follows its own issuance schedule based on the EDG number for that program, so a household receiving both can see two different deposit days on the same Lone Star Card.

The Bottom Line

Find your EDG number once, check which side of June 2020 your certification falls on, and read your date from the matching table. It will not move for weekends, holidays, or short months. If money that should have arrived did not, YourTexasBenefits.com shows the deposit status faster than any phone line, and 800-777-7328 handles the card itself.
