Schedule verified against the USDA state issuance rules for Ohio. Reviewed October 2026.
Ohio SNAP deposit dates follow a pattern no other big state uses: even numbered days only, from the 2nd to the 20th of the month. Your date comes from the last digit of your case number, and every digit maps to a day exactly two apart from the next. Once you see the pattern, you never need to look it up again. This page has the table, the math behind it, and the checklist for a deposit that does not show.
The Ohio Deposit Schedule
Benefits load onto your Ohio Direction Card based on the last digit of your case number:
| Case number ends in | Benefits available on the |
|---|---|
| 0 | 2nd of the month |
| 1 | 4th of the month |
| 2 | 6th of the month |
| 3 | 8th of the month |
| 4 | 10th of the month |
| 5 | 12th of the month |
| 6 | 14th of the month |
| 7 | 16th of the month |
| 8 | 18th of the month |
| 9 | 20th of the month |
The shortcut: double your last digit and add two. A case ending in 4 pays on the 10th, a case ending in 9 pays on the 20th. Nobody in Ohio is paid on an odd numbered day, on the 1st, or after the 20th.
Your date holds through weekends and holidays, with benefits loading around midnight. New cardholders are told their date in the approval notice, and your account at Ohio’s benefits portal shows it as well.
Why the 2nd and Not the 1st
Not sure if you qualify for food assistance? Check in under 2 minutes — it's free, private, and shows estimated amounts.
Ohio deliberately starts its cycle on the 2nd, which matters for one practical reason: if your rent or bills cluster on the 1st, your SNAP money has never been part of that day, even for the earliest group. Households budgeting SSI or Social Security alongside SNAP see those federal payments land around the 1st and 3rd on their own calendars, mapped in our SSI payment schedule and Social Security payment schedule, with the Ohio food deposit following on its even numbered day.
How Much Arrives Each Month
The date comes from your case number, the amount from the federal year that reset October 1, 2026. Maximums now run through September 2027, up to $1,023 a month for a family of four, with every household size in our October SNAP increase table. - Check your case status online or with your county Job and Family Services office. A skipped month usually means a recertification or interim report is sitting unfinished.
- Check your balance using the customer service number on the back of your Ohio Direction Card, available around the clock.
- Still unresolved? Call your county JFS office directly, or dial 211 for local help lines.
Ohio recertifications come around every six or twelve months depending on your case type, and the renewal packet arrives by mail and in your online account. Returning it late is the number one reason an Ohio deposit simply does not load.

What time do SNAP benefits load in Ohio?
Around midnight at the start of your scheduled day, every month, weekends and holidays included. The money is normally spendable when stores open.
Why is my neighbor paid on the 2nd while I wait until the 20th?
The last digit of the case number decides everything, and case numbers are assigned by the system, not chosen. A digit of 0 pays first and a 9 pays last, permanently, unless your case number itself changes.
Do Ohio deposits ever come early before holidays?
No. The even day schedule runs regardless of holidays. Only in rare statewide situations, announced by the Department of Job and Family Services, has Ohio compressed its schedule, and those are publicized in advance.
My case number changed after reapplying. Does my date change?
If the new case number ends in a different digit, yes. A closed and reopened case gets whatever date its new final digit maps to, which is the most common reason an Ohio deposit day genuinely moves.
Is the Ohio Direction Card schedule the same for cash assistance?
No. Ohio Works First cash assistance follows its own issuance timing, so a household receiving both can see two deposits on one card in the same month on different days.
The Bottom Line
Double the last digit of your case number, add two, and that is your day, every month of the year. Nothing loads on odd days, nothing before the 2nd, nothing after the 20th. A month with no deposit is a paperwork flag to chase with your county JFS office, and the card line answers balance questions any hour.
